Terms of Service

Version 2026-06-04

1. Who we are

These Terms of Service (the “Terms”) govern your use of rickpollick.com (the “Site”) and any related apps, newsletters, or subscriptions offered by Rick Pollick (“we,” “us,” or “Rick”). By using the Site, creating an account, or purchasing a membership, you agree to these Terms.

2. Accounts and sign-in

The Site uses passwordless email sign-in. You are responsible for keeping your email inbox secure — anyone with access to it can sign in as you. If you suspect an account has been compromised, contact us at rick@rickpollick.com.

3. Content and intellectual property

Essays, code samples, graphics, and other content on the Site are © Rick Pollick unless attributed otherwise. Personal, non-commercial reading and sharing of public posts with attribution are welcome. Please ask before reproducing more than short excerpts commercially or in training datasets.

4. Members-only content

Some essays and tools are available only to paying members. Your subscription grants you a personal, non-transferable license to read members-only content while your subscription is active. We may update, remove, or reorganize content at any time.

5. Billing, renewal, and cancellation

Paid memberships are billed through Stripe at the interval you select (monthly or yearly) and automatically renew until you cancel. You can cancel anytime from your account page; cancellation stops future charges and takes effect at the end of the current billing period. We do not provide refunds for partial periods.

6. Acceptable use

  • Don't share members-only content outside your own reading.
  • Don't attempt to disrupt the Site, bypass paywalls, or access accounts that aren't yours.
  • Don't use the Site to send spam or unlawful content, or to train machine-learning models without permission.

7. Enforcement and repeat infringers

We may remove content and suspend or terminate accounts or access for any violation of these Terms, with or without notice. Consistent with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (17 U.S.C. § 512(i)), we maintain and enforce a policy of terminating, in appropriate circumstances, the accounts of users who are repeat infringers of intellectual-property rights. Anyone may flag a violation through our report page.

8. Copyright complaints (DMCA)

We respect intellectual-property rights and respond to clear notices of alleged copyright infringement. If you believe content on the Site infringes your copyright, send a written notice that includes:

  • your physical or electronic signature;
  • identification of the copyrighted work you claim has been infringed;
  • identification of the material you claim is infringing, and enough detail (e.g., a URL) for us to locate it;
  • your name, address, and contact information;
  • a statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law; and
  • a statement, made under penalty of perjury, that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act on the owner's behalf.

Send notices through our report page (choose “Copyright / DMCA”) or by email to rick@rickpollick.com. If material you posted was removed and you believe that was a mistake or misidentification, you may submit a counter-notice through the same channel. We may reinstate the material as permitted by law. Knowingly making a material misrepresentation in a notice or counter-notice can expose you to liability under 17 U.S.C. § 512(f).

9. Third-party tools

The Site runs on Vercel, Supabase, Stripe, and related providers. Their use of your data is governed by their own policies. See our Privacy Policy for details.

10. Disclaimers

Writing on this Site reflects personal opinions and does not constitute legal, financial, medical, or investment advice. Apps and tools are provided “as is” without warranties of any kind.

11. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Rick Pollick is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Site. Aggregate liability is capped at the amount you paid for membership in the twelve months preceding the claim.

12. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms as the Site evolves. Material changes will be announced on the Site and, where appropriate, by email. Continued use of the Site after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
